In 1973 the second human mission on Skylab ended, completing over 2000 scientific and medical experiments with observations of the Sun and comet Kohoutek and with extravehicular activities (EVA), for a total of over 42 hours.

Nel 1992 launch of the Mars Observer probe (see image), designed to study the geology and climate of Mars. Contact with the probe was lost on August 21, 1993. It was the first of what was to be a series of planetary observation probes, developed as part of the Planetary Observer Program. Mission goals: determine the elemental and mineralogical characteristics of the materials that constitute the surface, define a global topography and the gravitational field, establish the nature of the planet’s magnetic field, determine the spatial and temporal distribution, abundance, sources of the materials volatiles and dust during the seasonal cycle, explore the structure and circulation of the atmosphere., as brought him some fame, but also attracted criticism.

In 2008 China sent Shenzhou 7 into space (see image). It is the third Chinese space mission, after those of 2003 and 2005, and the first to involve a spacewalk. The launch was carried out at 8.50pm local time from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center space station, in Gansu province.

Nel 2008 la Cina invia nello spazio Shenzhou 7 (vedi immagine). È la terza missione spaziale cinese, dopo quelle del 2003 e 2005, la prima a prevedere una passeggiata nello spazio. Il lancio è stato effettuato alle 20.50 ora locale dalla stazione spaziale di Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, nella provincia di Gansu.

In 2010, TMA-18 returned to earth, completing the Expedition 24 mission on the ISS with the Russian astronauts Aleksandr Skvortsov and Mikhail Komiyenco and the American Tracy Caldwell Dyson on board (see photo). The two American astronauts Douglas H. Wheelock and Shannon Walker remained on the International Space Station, plus the Russian Fyodor Yurchikhin who arrived with the TMA-19 capsule for the Expedition 25 mission.

Nel 2010 rientro a terra del TMA-18 portando a termine la missione Expedition 24 sulla ISS con a bordo gli astronauti russi Aleksandr Skvortsov e Mikhail Komiyenco e l’americana Tracy Caldwell Dyson (vedi foto). Sulla International Space Station rimasero i due astronauti americani Douglas H. Wheelock e Shannon Walker, più il russo Fyodor Yurchikhin giunti con la capsula TMA-19 per la missione Expedition 25.
