In 1976 the astronaut Luca Parmitano was born (see photo taken by me in 2022 at the event Trieste Next, Teatro Verdi) of whom Italy is proud!
Nel 1976 nasce l’astronauta Luca Parmitano (vedi foto del 2022 da me scattata all’evento annuale Trieste Next, Teatro Verdi) di cui l’Italia ne va orgogliosa!
In 2003, launch of SMART 1 (see image), the European Space Agency probe in orbit around the Moon. The name SMART is an acronym for Small Missions for Advanced Research in Technology. On September 3, 2006, the probe crashed into the lunar surface in the region called Lacus Excellentiae (Lake of Excellence).
Nel 2003 lancio di SMART1 (vedi immagine), la sonda dell’Agenzia Spaziale Europea in orbita intorno alla Luna. Il nome SMART è l’acronimo di Small Missions for Advanced Research in Technology (Missione compatta per lo sviluppo di tecnologie avanzate). Il 3 settembre 2006 è avvenuto lo schianto della sonda con la superficie lunare nella regione denominata Lacus Excellentiae (Lago dell’Eccellenza).
In 2007, the DAWN probe (see image) was launched from Cape Canaveral towards Vesta and Ceres. Dawn was the first probe to orbit an asteroid and a dwarf planet and was managed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory with contributions from European partners such as Italy, Germany, France and the Netherlands. The first close flyby of an asteroid however was by the Galileo probe, while the NEAR Shoemaker mission orbited the asteroid Eros.
Nel 2007 da Cape Canaveral lancio della sonda DAWN (vedi immagine) verso Vesta e Cerere. Dawn è stata la prima sonda ad orbitare attorno ad un asteroide e ad un pianeta nano ed è stata gestita dal Jet Propulsion Laboratory con contributi di partner europei come Italia, Germania, Francia e Paesi Bassi. Il primo sorvolo ravvicinato di un asteroide tuttavia è stato dalla sonda sonda Galileo, mentre la missione NEAR Shoemaker orbitò intorno all’asteroide Eros.

The small satellite LiciaCube, managed and coordinated by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and built by the Argotec italian company, was less than a thousand kilometers from the asteroid and immediately after the collision entered the scene like a cosmic photojournalist to take up the point which the impact occurred.
Il piccolo satellite LiciaCube, gestito e coordinato dall’Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (Asi) e realizzato dall’azienda italiana Argotec si trovava a meno di mille chilometri dall’asteroide e subito dopo la collisione è entrato in scena come un fotoreporter cosmico per riprendere il punto in cui è avvenuto l’impatto.
