In 1216, the astronomer and mathematician Ibn al-Banna al-Marrakushi was born, known above all for having perfected a calculation system that can be considered a distant ancestor of manual calculators. Faithful to the teachings of al-Zarqālī, in astronomy he is known for the work entitled minhāj al‐ṭālib fī taʿdīl al‐kawākib (the student’s method for calculating the positions of the planets). A lunar crater was dedicated to him (see photo).

Nel 1216 nasce l’astronomo e matematico Ibn al-Banna al-Marrakushi noto soprattutto per aver perfezionato un sistema di calcolo che può essere considerato un lontano antenato dei calcolatori manuali. Fedele agli insegnamenti di al-Zarqālī, in astronomia è noto per l’opera intitolata minhāj al‐ṭālib fī taʿdīl al‐kawākib (metodo dello studente per calcolare le posizioni dei pianeti). A lui è stato dedicato un cratere lunare (vedi foto).
