Henri Jacques Chretien was born in 1879, a French physicist and astronomer known above all as the inventor of the hypergonar lens (1925) from which the cinemascope system derives, for the shooting and projection of films on a giant screen. From an astronomical point of view he dedicated himself to optician working at the observatories of Meudon (1901) and Nice (1906), then founder and professor of the Institute of Optics in Paris.

Nel 1879 nasce Henri Jacques Chretien, fisico e astronomo francese noto soprattutto come inventore della lente hypergonar (1925) dalla quale deriva il sistema cinemascope, per la ripresa e la proiezione di film su schermo gigante, dal punto di vista astronomico si è dedicato all’ottica lavorando presso gli osservatori di Meudon (1901) e di Nizza (1906), poi fondatore e professore dell’Istituto di ottica di Parigi.

In 1949, the 200′ diameter mirror of the Hale Telescope saw its first light at the Mount Palomar Observatory (see photo).

Nel 1949 all’Osservatorio di Monte Palomar (vedi foto) vede la prima luce lo specchio da 200’ di diametro del Hale Telescope.

In 2022 Tito Stagno died. He was a commentator who made us dream with all his enthusiasm about the italian RAI live broadcast of the moon landing on 20 July 1969. RIP!
