In 1582 Pope Gregory XIII, with the aim of bringing the civil calculation of the calendar into greater agreement with astronomical observations, introduced the new reformed calendar with the apostolic letter Inter gravissimas.

In 1616 the theological experts of the Holy Office made their response known. They reported that the proposition according to which the Sun is the center of the world and completely immobile in local motion was foolish and absurd in philosophy and formally heretical, as it expressly contradicts many points and passages of Sacred Scripture, both in the literal sense and in the unanimous interpretation of the Holy Fathers and Doctors.

Nel 1616 gli esperti di teologia del Sant’Uffizio resero noto il loro responso. Essi riferirono che la proposizione secondo la quale il Sole è il centro del mondo e del tutto immobile di moto locale era stolta ed assurda in filosofia e formalmente eretica, in quanto contraddice espressamente in molti punti e passi della Sacra Scrittura, sia nel senso letterale sia nell’interpretazione unanime dei Santi Padri e dei Dottori.

In 2007, the first mission of “Castore” took place at the Arbatax-Tortolì airport in Sardinia, the first of the two unmanned spacecraft created as part of the CIRA USV program.

Nel 2007, presso l’aeroporto di Arbatax-Tortolì in Sardegna, si svolgeva la prima missione di “Castore”, il primo dei due velivoli spaziali senza pilota realizzati nell’ambito del programma USV del CIRA.

In 2020, mathematician Katherine Johnson died, known for the calculations of trajectories and orbits that allowed the success of many space missions including the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing and for the Mercury mission with the flight of Friendship 7 where Astronaut John Glenn himself refused to fly without confirmation of Katherine’s calculations. We recommend the film “Hidden figures” which describes the importance of the group of African American scientists who in the 1960s made an important contribution to the Space Race even though they were unfortunately subject to racial discrimination.

Nel 2020 muore la matematica Katherine Johnson, nota per i calcoli delle traiettorie e delle orbite che consentirono il successo di moltissime missioni spaziali tra cui lo sbarco sulla Luna del 1969 dell’Apollo 11 e per la missione Mercury con il volo di Friendship 7 dove lo stesso astronauta John Glenn si rifiutò di volare senza la conferma dei calcoli di Katherine. Si consiglia il film “il diritto di contare” che descrive l’importanza del gruppo di scienziate afro americane che negli anni 60 diedero un importante contributo alla corsa allo Spazio anche se purtroppo soggette a discriminazione razziale.
