In 1981 the first Space Shuttle was launched (STS 1 mission), named Columbia. Unfortunately we know the tragic outcome with the loss of the seven crew members (Rick D. Husband, David M. Brown, William C. McCool, Michael P. Anderson, Laurel B. Clark, Kalpana Chawla, Americans, and Ilan Ramon, Israeli), which occurred on 1 February 2003 during re-entry into the atmosphere.
