The Swiss astronomer Jean Philippe Loys de Chéseaux was born in 1718, known for having discovered eight nebulae presented in a list to the French Academy of Sciences and then presented to the public only in 1892 by Guillaume Bigourdan. He is also known for having stated Olbers’ Paradox (how is it possible that the night sky is dark despite the infinite number of stars present in the universe?)

Nel 1718 nasce l’astronomo svizzero Jean Philippe Loys de Chéseaux, noto per aver scoperto otto nebulose presentate in una lista all’ Accademia francese delle scienze e poi presentata al pubblico solo nel 1892 da Guillaume Bigourdan. Inoltre è noto per aver enunciato il Paradosso di Olbers (come è possibile che il cielo notturno sia buio nonostante l’infinità di stelle presenti nell’universo?)

In 1967, the Lunar Orbiter 4 probe was launched with the aim of mapping the surface of the Moon. Once it entered orbit, the photographic shooting began. So stay connected with the next photo bulletins! Contact with the probe lasted until its lunar impact on October 31, 1967.
