On JUNE 24, 1881 William Huggins, English astronomer, obtained the first photographic spectrum of a comet (1881 III). In the spectra of the entire tail identified on photographic plates it was possible to determine a continuum (diffuse sunlight) and overlapping discrete “hydrocarbon” bands, which originate from cometary gases.

Il 24 GIUGNO 1881 William Huggins, astronomo inglese, ottiene il primo spettro fotografico d’una cometa (1881 III). Negli spettri dell’intera coda individuata su lastre fotografiche è stato possibile determinare un continuum (luce solare diffusa) e bande “idrocarburiche” discrete sovrapposte, che hanno origine dai gas cometari.

In 1915, the English astronomer Fred Hoyle, theorist of the steady state, was born. His numerous scientific contributions range from the explanation of the genesis of “heavy” elements to that of the fragmentation of gas into stars, but he is best known as a supporter of the cosmological theory of the steady state and of the Panspermia hypothesis.

Nel 1915 nasce l’astronomo inglese Fred Hoyle, teorico dello stato stazionario. I suoi numerosi contributi scientifici vanno dalla spiegazione della genesi degli elementi “pesanti” a quella della frammentazione del gas in stelle, ma egli è noto soprattutto come sostenitore della teoria cosmologica dello stato stazionario e dell’ipotesi della Panspermia.

In 1947 reporting of the first known sighting of a UFO: Kenneth Arnold, a civilian aircraft pilot, claimed that, while on his plane looking for a military aircraft that went missing, he observed nine unusual objects flying in an array near Mount Rainier, Washington state . Nel 1947 segnalazione del primo avvistamento conosciuto di un UFO: Kenneth Arnold, pilota di aerei civili, sostienne che, mentre sul suo aeroplano cercava un velivolo militare andato disperso, ha osservato nove insoliti oggetti volare in schieramento vicino al Monte Rainier, nello stato di Washington.
