In 1973, the fourteenth probe was launched towards Mars, as part of the Russian mission Mars 7 (see photo): the probe reached the planet on March 9, 1974 and sent some data to the Earth.

In 2000, the second pair of Cluster satellites (see image) of the European Space Agency (ESA), dedicated to the study of the Earth’s magnetosphere, was launched.

Nel 2000 lancio della seconda coppia di satelliti Cluster (vedi immagine) dell’European Space Agency (ESA), dedicata allo studio della magnetosfera terrestre. 

In 2006 the American physicist James Alfred Van Allen died, to him the discovery of the radioactive belts that surround the Earth called precisely the Van Allen belts studied thanks to the data transmitted in 1958 by Explorer 1, the first American artificial satellite. Van Allen was chief scientist for 24 space probes including Pioneer 10 and Pioneer 11.

Nel 2006 muore il fisico americano James Alfred Van Allen, a lui la scoperta delle cinture radioattive che circondano la Terra chiamate appunto fasce di Van Allen studiate grazie ai dati trasmessi nel 1958 dall’Explorer 1, il primo satellite artificiale americano. Van Allen fu responsabile scientifico di 24 sonde spaziali comprese le Pioneer 10 e Pioneer 11.
