In 1764 Charles Messier discovered the triangular galaxy Messier 33 and the open cluster Messier 34 (see photo).

In 1822 the astronomer William Herschel died (see photo), discoverer of the planet Uranus. We also owe him the discoveries in 1787 Titania and Oberon, satellites of Uranus and in 1789 Mimante and Enceladus, satellites of Saturn.

In 1865 discovery of a Martian meteorite in Sherghati in India (see photo). About three-quarters of all Martian meteorites are classified as shergottites.

In 1865 the astronomer Karl Theodor Robert Luthe discovered the asteroid (84) Klio from the Dusseldorf Observatory (located in the urban district of Bilk) in Germany, of which he had been director since 1851. It was named after Clio, in mythology Greek muse of history

Andrew Jay “Drew” Feustel, an American astronaut and geophysicist, was born in 1965. He was selected by NASA as an astronaut in 2000. He participated in two Shuttle missions, STS-125 (2009) and STS-134 (2011), and in a long duration mission Expedition 55/56 (2018), aboard the International Space Station ( ISS)
