In 1971 – Mariner program: the Mariner 9 space probe (see photo) reaches Mars, becoming the first spacecraft to orbit another planet.

In 1978 HEAO 2 launch for X-ray astronomy (see photo) named Einstein in honor of the great physicist Albert Einstein following the successful achievement of orbit.

Nel 1978 lancio HEAO 2 per l’astronomia raggi X (vedi foto) denominato Einstein in onore al grande fisico Albert Einstein a seguito del raggiungimento con successo dell’orbita. 

In 1982 the Viking 1 probe (see photo) ended its mission on Mars after six and a half years of activity; it should have remained operational for a few months by mapping the climatic conditions on the ground, but against all predictions it continued until today 1982.

Nel 1982 la sonda Viking 1 (vedi foto) termina la sua missione su Marte dopo ben sei anni e mezzo di attività; sarebbe dovuta rimanere operativa alcuni mesi mappando le condizioni climatiche al suolo, ma contro ogni previsione continuò fino ad oggi dell’82.

In 2009, NASA officially announced that there is water in high quantities on the Moon following the LCROSS (Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite) probe.
which found clear signs of water in the material disturbed by an impactor probe in the lunar south pole.

Nel 2009 la NASA annuncia ufficialmente che c’è acqua in quantità elevata sulla Luna a seguito della sonda LCROSS (Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite)
che ha trovato chiari segni di acqua nel materiale smosso da una sonda impattatrice nel polo sud lunare.

In 2015, a large fragment (WT1190F, see photo) re-entered the Earth’s atmosphere off the coast of Sri Lanka and the mystery surrounding this object sparked curiosity: there were those who fantasized about a piece of the Apollo 10 LEM, but in reality it was of space debris from the trans-lunar injection phase of the 1998 Lunar Prospector mission

Nel 2015 rientra nell’atmosfera terrestre a largo dello Sri Lanka un grosso frammento (WT1190F, vedi foto) ed il mistero su questo oggetto scatenó la curiosità: c’è chi fantasticava su un pezzo del LEM dell’Apollo 10, in realtà si trattó di detriti spaziali dalla fase di iniezione trans-lunare della missione Lunar Prospector del 1998
