In 1796 Johann D. Titius died, known for having formulated an empirical formula in 1766 on the distances of the planets of the solar system from the Sun, today known as the Titius-Bode law.

Nel 1796 muore Johann D. Titius noto per aver formulato nel 1766 una formula empirica sulle distanze dei pianeti del sistema solare dal Sole, oggi nota come legge di Titius-Bode. 

The American astronomer Annie Cannon was born in 1863; she made a very important contribution to astronomy first and foremost with the compilation of the Henry Draper catalog (or HD catalogue), a huge star catalog with astrometric and spectroscopic data of over 225,000 stars. He also discovered many variables and five novae.

Nel 1863 nasce l’astronoma americana Annie Cannon; diede un contributo molto importante all’astronomia innanzitutto con la compilazione del catalogo Henry Draper (o catalogo HD), un enorme catalogo stellare con dati astrometrici e spettroscopici di oltre 225.000 stelle. Scoprì inoltre molte variabili e cinque novae.
