Spring Equinox: It is the moment in which the Sun is at the Zenith at the equator, its rays fall perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the Earth, and for this reason throughout the world day and night, that is, the period of light and the dark one, have approximately the same duration. Equinox, in Latin, means equal night. From that moment the period of light begins to lengthen compared to the period of darkness in our hemisphere where spring begins with the March equinox. The opposite happens in the southern one where the same date marks the beginning of autumn. Legend: The Anjana of Spanish mythology are beautiful 15cm tall fairies who take care of the forests. They can communicate with water, help injured animals, trees damaged by winter storms and guide those lost in the woods. According to mythology, during the night of the spring equinox they crowd the hills dancing until dawn and scattering roses. Lucky are those who find a rose petal thrown by the fairies: they will be happy for life.

Equinozio di primavera: È il momento in cui il Sole è allo Zenit all’equatore, i suoi raggi cadono perpendicolari all’asse di rotazione della Terra, e per questo in tutto il mondo il giorno e la notte, ovvero il periodo di luce e quello di buio, hanno circa la stessa durata. Equinozio, in latino, significa, infatti, notte uguale. Da quel momento il periodo di luce comincia ad allungarsi rispetto a quello di buio nel nostro emisfero dove con l’equinozio di marzo ha inizio la primavera. Succede l’opposto in quello australe dove la stessa data segna l’inizio dell’autunno. Leggenda: Le Anjana della mitologia spagnola sono belle fate alte 15 cm che si prendono cura delle foreste. Possono comunicare con l’acqua, aiutare gli animali feriti, gli alberi danneggiati dalle tempeste invernali e guidare coloro che si perdono nel bosco. Durante la notte dell’equinozio di primavera secondo la mitologia affollano le colline danzando fino all’alba e spargendo rose. Fortunati coloro che troveranno un petalo di rosa gettato dalle fate: saranno felici per tutta la vita.
