In 1969 – Apollo program: NASA launches Apollo 12 (see photo) the second mission with men on board to land on the surface of the Moon which will reach 5 days later when Charles Conrad and Alan Bean land on the Oceanus Procellarum (Ocean of storms)

Nel 1969 – Programma Apollo: la NASA lancia l’Apollo 12 (vedi foto) la seconda missione con uomini a bordo ad atterrare sulla superficie della Luna che raggiungerà 5 giorni dopo quando Charles Conrad e Alan Bean si posano sull’Oceanus Procellarum (Oceano delle tempeste) 

In 2003, Sedna was observed for the first time (see image) with the Samuel Oschin telescope of the Palomar Observatory. It is a cold planetoid, perhaps classifiable as a dwarf planet approximately two-thirds the size of Pluto.

Nel 2003 viene osservato per la prima volta Sedna (vedi immagine) con il telescopio Samuel Oschin dell’Osservatorio Palomar. Si tratta di un freddo planetoide, forse classificabile come pianeta nano di dimensioni approssimativamente pari ai due terzi di quelle di Plutone. 

In 2009, the optics manufacturer John Gregory died. In the article “A Cassegrain-Maksutov Telescope Design for the Amateur” published in 1957 in the American magazine Sky & Telescope, he proposed the optical scheme and the manufacturing and quality control specifications required for its creation. He founded John Gregory Optics after working for the Perkins-Elmer company, the well-known manufacturer of the Hubble Space Telescope’s optics.

Nel 2009 muore il costruttore di ottiche John Gregory che nell’articolo “A Cassegrain-Maksutov Telescope Design for the Amateur” pubblicato nel 1957 sulla rivista americana Sky & Telescope propone lo schema ottico e specifiche di lavorazione e di controllo della qualità richieste per la realizzazione. Fondó la John Gregory Optics dopo aver lavorato per la ditta Perkins-Elmer, nota costruttrice delle ottiche dell’Hubble Space Telescope
